"Russian Drunk Gets Folded Into Bed"

Domestic violence is not just an American phenomenon. Husband and wife violence goes beyond our borders and is a world-wide problem.

TV Channel 5 in St. Petersburg, Russia, reports a man died in his apartment following an argument with his wife.

According to Channel 5, Sergei came home drunk after spending the afternoon drinking with his comrades. Now he’s arguing with his wife, Ilsa. After a few minutes, Sergei collapses in a drunken stupor and falls across the bed.

Ilsa, disgusted with her husband’s habitual drinking, kicks the metal frame of the bed, then dashes out of the apartment and takes a long walk in the park.

What happens next is apparently unknown to Ilsa. When she kicks the bed frame, she actually activates a lever which triggers an automatic folding mechanism, causing the bed to fold into thirds, then launches the folded bed up against the wall.

This type of bed is a "space saver," similar to the once popular Murphy Bed which was used in large metropolitan areas during World War II when housing was scarce.

While Ilsa is taking her walk, the unconscious Sergei is folded up inside the bed, up against the wall.

When Ilsa returns home three hours later, her husband is nowhere to be found. At least not until the woman lowers the bed to go to sleep for the night.

Russian EMTs reportedly had to saw apart metal bars on the bed to free Sergei’s body. Russian cops did not comment on the cause of Sergei’s death, but it’s presumed he died by suffocation. There’s no news as to whether or not Ilsa will be charged with a crime.
