"Clarissa’s Night on the Town"

Clarissa has been waiting for weeks to see the "What Nots" perform at a local night club. She’s been a fan of the musical group ever since high school days.

On this particular night, Clarissa and her best friend, Bonnie, head downtown to the Full Moon with the expectation of a great evening. The girls are in high spirits.

There’s a long line at the entrance, but that’s okay, it’ll be worth the wait. Word comes down through the line that there’s a $5 cover charge because of a "special appearance" by the What Nots.

"Some nerve," Clarissa says to Bonnie. "They’ve never had a cover charge before." By now the fans are getting restless. A few line jumpers show up and the crowd begins yelling and pushing and shoving.

During her struggle to get inside the Full Moon, Clarissa falls and two of her front teeth are knocked out. Blood from her mouth gets all over the front of her dress. Before she knows what’s happening, two paramedics place her on a stretcher and she’s taken, forthwith, to the ER.

Many weeks later, Clarissa is telling her sad story to a lawyer. "Don’t you think I have a case against the people at that night club? I mean, they are the direct cause of all my pain and suffering." She stops just short of tears.

Clarissa’s lawyer nods: "We’ll see how things work out." Well, how things work out is this: a jury awards Clarissa $12,000 plus all dental costs.

I guess I forgot to tell you, Clarissa knocked out her two front teeth when she fell into the ladies restroom from a window, trying to sneak in without paying the cover charge.
