"Oops! Wrong Paper."

Rudy and Blanche had an amazing vacation in Florida, highlighted by trips to Disney World, Sea World and Busch Gardens. "This is what retired life is all about," says Rudy as they head for home in New Jersey.

Things really go well until the couple gets into Georgia. Rudy has the cruise control set at 10 miles over the speed limit, when he spots a flashing blue light in his rearview mirror.

He tells the deputy sheriff, "You may not believe me, but I’m a 70-year-old law abiding citizen who has never had a ticket before. I have a son-in-law who’s a police officer, and I’m ashamed that such a thing could happen." The deputy hands Rudy a ticket—a "warning" ticket.

Rudy nods politely as he and Blanche resume their journey. A couple hours later, fully recovered from his police encounter, Rudy moves his cruise control back to where he likes it—in the eighties.

They’re near Florence when Rudy again sees the flash of blue lights. "I can’t believe this is happening to me twice in the same day," grumps Rudy, pulling over into the emergency lane.

Rudy rolls down the widow and says to the trooper, "You may not believe me, but I’m a 70-year-old law abiding citizen who has never had a ticket before. I have a son-in-law who’s a police officer, and I’m ashamed that such a thing could happen."

"Your driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance card, please," says the trooper.

Rudy hands over his license and insurance card, then turns to Blanche. "Look in the glove box, honey, and get out my registration card."

Blanche fishes around in the glove box and comes out with a piece of paper which she hands over to Rudy. He passes it on to the trooper.

Turns out the paper in the glove box isn’t Rudy’s car registration—it’s the warning ticket from the Georgia deputy sheriff.

The trooper looks over the paperwork. "I hate to tell you this, mister, but...."

You know the rest of the story. I’ll bet Blanche caught heck during the rest of the drive home.
