"The Wanna-Be Bank Heister"

Lonnie thought he’d planned the bank robbery pretty well. He waited until he was the only customer in line. Then he handed the teller a note saying: "This is a holdup, give me all the money."

The teller read the note. Obviously thinking this was some kind of gag, the teller looked Lonnie straight in the face, laughed, and said, "You can’t be serious, you don’t even have a gun."

Lonnie was stunned. Then he became angry - at himself for forgetting something so basic in a robbery. He pounded his left fist into his right hand and mouthed some kind of expletive.

Then he turned and left the bank, stamping his feet and muttering to himself as he went. His car was parked right in front of the bank. He reached into the front seat and pulled out a pistol - the one he forgot to bring to the robbery. Then he turned and walked, at a brisk pace, back to the bank.

By this time the bank’s security guard had picked up on what was happening. The guard locked the front door and stepped aside, his own gun now drawn.

Lonnie hit the door at full stride only to find it locked tight. The wanna-be bank heister must have been very distraught at that moment. Here he was, fully prepared to stick-up a bank and they’d locked him out. That’s not fair!

So angered at the circumstances was Lonnie that he pounded on the Plexiglas door with the butt of his gun, demanding entry. He was so busy trying to get into the bank that he failed to notice three city police cars pulling up behind him.
